A monthly group class during which we will focus on sitting practice, mindfulness practice, selected readings. Please contact Sandra to apply. Reading and Workshop in Mechanicsville, Virginia

Author Sandra Bain Cushman will be visiting the Church of the Redeemer in Mechanicsville, VA, and reading excerpts from her new book, Mind Body 40 Days. Sandra's readings will be interspersed with gentle mind-body activities that will give everyone an opportunity to put her concepts into practice. Please join us for this free event.

Alexander Technique Teacher Refresher/Retreat
Saturday, March 10, 2012, Charlottesville, VA
During this day-long retreat we will explore three combinations of The Five Relations, each of which evokes a particular quality of balance and connection. During this repeating cycle of workshops, we will work with the first set, three of six triads evoking the qualities of Balance, Animation and Span. We will explore these relationships within the AT directions as they inform our teaching both of individuals and of groups. Focus on chair work, walking, floor work (or work on the table), and group introductory activities. Lunch will be served.

Alexander Technique Retreat for Beginning and Intermediate Students
Saturday, April 14, 2012, Charlottesville, VA
During this day-long retreat we will explore The Five Relations (see Articles and Audio for a diagram of the Five Relations and an audio of a sitting sequence that incorporates them) as they relate to the Alexander Technique principles of Direction, Inhibition, and Primary Control. The morning work will include work on sitting practice and walking meditation. In the afternoon we will explore work on the floor and application work, the AT as it relates to hiking, lifting, work at the desk, speaking and/or singing. Lunch will be served.
